Greifswald offers high quality, well developed dissemination platforms that reach the entire Baltic Sea region and beyond. The annual festival “Nordischer Klang” (Nordic Sound) attracts about 10,000 visitors with concerts, literary events, exhibitions and lectures by artists from Scandinavia, Finland, and the Baltics. The festival is organised by the cultural association Nordischer Klang e.V., which is associated with the Institute for Finnish and Scandinavian Studies at the University of Greifswald. It cooperates closely with Greifswald’s cultural institutions, which contribute their own programme items. In 2024, the 33rd edition is going to take place from 3rd to 12th May with a spotlight on Grenzquerungen – Crossing Borders: The internationalisation of the Northern European cultural scenes in the last 20 years.
