Dr Alexander Waszynski

Alexander Waszynski is the coordinator of the IRTG Baltic Peripeties. In his research he focuses on methodologies, literary theory and media theory, with an emphasis on the German literary history and intellectual history from the 18th to the 20th century. He has published on Jean Paul, Theodor Fontane, Hans Blumenberg, on contemporary cinema and the history of science. Across epochs and topics, he examines how cultural techniques (such as reading, quoting, touching, cultivating) as well as textual and medial configurations pre-structure what would only later be processible as the thesis of a treatise, as a literary figuration, or as a collection object.
