With an MA in Slavonic and German studies from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, I successfully defended my PhD Thesis in Slavonic Studies at the University of Jena (1999), where I also gained my Professor’s qualification by completing a post-doctoral thesis (Habilitation) on the problem of “skaz” and “unreliable narration” (2012). After serving as interim Chair of Western Slavonic Literatures at the University of Leipzig for three semesters, I was appointed to the Chair of Slavonic Literatures at the University of Greifswald in April 2018.
