Jochen Müller holds the Chair of Political Sociology and Methods at the University of Greifswald. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Constance and at the University of Warwick (UK) before completing his PhD at the University of Potsdam, Germany. Prior to joining the University of Greifswald in 2022, he held positions at the University of Mannheim, the University of Oldenburg, the University of Essex (UK), and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. His research primarily focuses on legislatures, political parties, and political attitudes and behavior. He considers peripety a useful device for comparatively examining public opinion, parliamentary debate and party competition in the context of political change and continuity, especially regarding “key events” that affect or even shape the political field.
