After completing his studies in Finnish and Scandinavian studies in Greifswald and Helsinki in 1996, Marko Pantermöller obtained his doctorate from the University of Greifswald in 2003 with a thesis on the integration of foreign words into the Finnish language and his habilitation with a linguistic-historical study on the development of the abessive case. Since 2010 he has been Professor of Finnish Studies and, in addition to linguistics and literary history, he also teaches translation studies. Together with Prof. Dr Clemens Räthel, he is furthermore Festival Director of the annual Nordischer Klang.
